My Favorite Essential Oils

I was introduced to essential oils several years ago when they became the "hot" thing for suburban moms. They are still wonderfully popular and do amazing things for health. I am sold on their superpowers. In this post I'll describe my favorite oils and how and why I use them. As a disclaimer, I use doTerra oils. There are other brands of essential oils but doTerra has oils that you can ingest in some cases and I like the fact they are pure enough to eat. For more of an overall introduction to essential oils, go here for a brochure. Without further ado, here are probably the top 5 oils I use.
1- Lavender- I use this one a lot. If you ever get burned cooking, put a little lavender on the burn and within minutes it will go away. It is also good for sleep. I put in a diffuser in my kids room to help them with sleep. You can also put it in an epsom salt bath ( about 5-10 drops) for extra relaxation. It is also nice sprinkled on your pillow.
2- Lemon- This one is great for detoxification. Put about 5 drops in a glass water bottle and enjoy. It has to be a glass bottle because the lemon oil will eat a hole in a plastic bottle. It is also useful if you are prone to kidney stones. My husband has had several and since he has been drinking more water and adding the lemon oil to it, he has not had a kidney stone.
3- Peppermint- I have used peppermint as a cooling agent in the summer. Put a few drops on the back of your neck if you are super hot and it will give you a cooling feeling. It is also great to break a fever. I have broken a fever in my daughter with peppermint oil alone. Rub it along the spine and on the bottom of the feet to help with a fever. I also make a wonderful minty fudge recipe with the peppermint essential oil as well. I will share the recipe soon. Peppermint is also good at relieving headaches. Place a few drops on your finger and put in in the roof of your mouth and rub a couple drops on the back of your neck. This will help with sinus congestion too.
4- Frankincense- This one is considered the "King of Oils". You would think it such if it was gifted to baby Jesus. I use this oil on my face to help prevent wrinkles. I use it on sprains and inflammation. It is a great anti-inflammatory oil with many uses.
5- Balance- This is a blend from doTerra. It has a wonderful grounding and calming effect. I make soap with this oil in it to have a peaceful bath or shower. I rub it on my feet when I've had a crazy day and I diffuse it in my office. This blend smells like a spa and really does relax and ground you. I highly recommend it.
These are probably my top 5 "go to" oils. I use an oil almost every day for one reason or another. You can find doTerra oils with people who are affiliates with doTerra and with facilities that sell it. I have an affiliation so I can help facilitate you getting an oil if you are interested.
