5 Seconds Could Change Your Life

So I have an addiction...an addiction to books. I've recently discovered audiobooks so now OTHER people can read to me! How awesome is that and I can do other things while people read to me. I know, nerd alert. Anyway, I had heard of Mel Robbins before but never really got into her work. She wrote a book a couple of years ago called the 5 Second Rule. It is a great book and the premise behind it is really simple and yet incredibly profound. So, basically when you have an intuition or drive or thought to do something, count to yourself 5-4-3-2-1 and move. So for example, Mel had a hard time getting out of bed every morning so much so it would literally cripple the rest of her day. So when the alarm went off she 5-4-3-2-1ed and blasted out of the bed. Got a much better start on the day. I absolutely hate to make phone calls to schedule appointments. I had a card on my dresser for 18 months for me to schedule my yearly physical. I just did NOT want to pick up the phone and found 8 million excuses. So I 5-4-3-2-1ed and called. It was stupid simple and I got it done. Other things like quitting smoking, exercising, eating better, reaching out to a loved one, you name it, you can use the 5 second rule. She has science backing this up too. Check out this book! And remember whenever you don't want to do something for whatever reason, 5-4-3-2-1 and move. It will literally change your life. I know it has mine.
