A Lobster Story

I have a not so dirty little secret. I love just about everything in the personal development/ psychology world. I love trying to figure out why people do what they do..heck, why I do what I do. How to hack my own mind and limiting beliefs to become more aware and more effective. So, to that pursuit, I have been taking a Udemy course by Kain Ramsey about NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming). It is very interesting (at least to me 😉).
In it he describes a story about lobsters. Evidently when lobsters feel the pressure and discomfort of growth and their shells get tight, they simply go to the bottom of the ocean, hide for protection, shed their small shell and wait a week or two to grow another one. The process continues as they continue to outgrow their current states. Basically when lobsters feel the stress of expansion, they grow.
The point he was making is that nature is always for growth and expansion. Heck even the universe is constantly expanding allowing more and more room for anything imaginable.
There is a gap between where we are in our present state and where we want to be (our desired state). It's in that gap where you experience fear, doubt and stress.
As humans, we do everything in our power to not feel that stress. Stress is uncomfortable and we go to the doctor to get pills to squash the anxiety we have, the depression we experience. We go to alcohol and drugs to numb and block the pull of expansion. We ignore it. I'm not saying there is no such thing as true anxiety and depression problems, they are certainly very real with very real consequences and challenges.
But, just take a look at yourself when you feel stress and discomfort in your life for no real reason. It may be God/ The Universe (whatever you identify with) calling you to grow and expand. Step out of your comfort zone and grow a new shell. Do that thing that you're scared to put yourself out there and do. The world needs what you can offer and it's the ultimate selfish act to not share your awesome uniqueness with the world. Let me tell you how scary it was to do this website, youtube videos, even put my picture on the internet! I have no idea where these random health musing will take me/us, but I felt the pull of expansion and did something about it. If I can, anyone can.
