My go to Supplements

Supplements may or may not be your thing. They happen to be my thing for a couple of reasons. First of all, the best way to get nutrients is through your food, but I don't think there are many people that eat like 9 cups of fruit, vegetables and clean protein sources every day. And even if you did, the quality of the soil is so poor it produces plants that are themselves nutrient deficient. If it's grown in deficient soil, it is deficient itself. It only makes sense. Even if its organic or non GMO without good soil, it's still lacking.

Here are a few supplements I take every day that I think are beneficial for most everyone.

Probiotic

I take a soil based probiotic every day. I get it here from Dr. Axe. Probiotics are basically a supplement of good bacteria to help keep your microbiome balanced. When the bacteria in your gut is balanced you are overall healthier. Your gut is less likely to be leaky which then leads to less inflammation which leads to less disease. For more on Leaky Gut go here.

Vitamin D3

Many people are vitamin D deficient. A 2011 study showed that approximately 42% of adults were vitamin D deficient. That's almost HALF of the population! Even though many doctors tell women to supplement mainly with calcium for their bones, vitamin D is vitally important to the process. The truth is you can't absorb calcium without vitamin D. Vitamin D is a fat soluble vitamin meaning it is absorbed better when taken with fat. For example, salmon (a fatty fish) is very high in vitamin D. It's like natures perfect all natural vitamin D supplement. Other supplements can come in capsules or liquids. I get my vitamin D here and put a few drops in my coffee every morning. I use heavy cream and MCT oil in it so that is a source of fat to help me absorb it better. Vitamin D is great for your bones but also for your immune system, cardiovascular system, and your nervous system.

Fish Oil

Omega 3 fatty acids are my go to supplement for inflammation. Fatty acids are great for many things like your hair and skin, mood, brain function, heart, joints, and most importantly for fighting inflammation. Inflammation is the source of almost all disease, so fighting it is paramount to health. I use this one.

Turmeric

This is another one that I love for inflammation. Turmeric has literally decreased the amount of aches and pains I have. But like with most supplements you have to take them for several weeks to truly see the effects. Make sure you get one with black pepper in it. Black pepper helps you absorb it better. This is the one I take.

Collagen

Go here to see why and how I use collagen. It's the best for hair, skin, nails, joints, any and all connective tissue.

These are my go to supplements. I do occasionally take a multivitamin too, but not everyday. Let me know if there are ones you love!

Cheers!
